squirrels

Growing up was lucky enough to see 2 squirrels, furtively. Where I am from, there are no animals more elusive and skittish, than the bushy-tailed red fur-balls that you might spot once every five years. They were the cutest of the rodents, unfortunately these fragile creatures keep to themselves.

Then I moved to the US and they were everywhere! Fat, gray, nasty creatures who had no manners. Turns out these distant cousins tend to be bigger and carry a disease that kills their smaller counterparts. There goes the charm of a squirrel, and I've had enough of them.

Macy's window displays

I lived in NYC for a while, the city where all dreams can come true. Especially, at Christmas time they like to keep that idea alive. Macy's holiday window display was always a feat and they tried to outdo themselves every year. So imagine my shock when I walk down Hennepin, and I see this in the Macy's window in Minneapolis. A scene that to me looks more like communist hell than Christmas. Notice the mannequin with the cabbie hat that looks like a russian worker out of some propaganda poster. I am not asking for quaint snow scenes with reindeer and Santa because after all the space does require some sort of fashion display, but this is a pretty big miss in my opinion. At least it makes for some fun shots. Window display designer, I am addressing you: oops!

Or is this really just me?
